Go Love the Who
I AM SECOND
There is a movement out there called “I AM SECOND”.
Whether or not you believe in God the mission of this company is transforming.
Restoration. The world as it was meant to be. People redeemed and lives transformed. Relationships rebuilt, communities revitalized, and culture restored. We seek a world where people become second, serving and loving each other as they put Jesus first.
The missions is about LOVE. We could all use a little more love and give a little more live likely.
As a coach it is in my DNA to put others first, to love HUMANS and invest into them. Invest into their life change and transformation. This quote always hits me close to home:
Our greatest fear should not be of failure, instead it should be succeeding at things in life that don't really matter...
I can walk around and lead a life with myself at the center or I can intentionally have those around me be the focus. It is interesting to note, that the more I intentionally love and care about others the more alive I feel. This feeling is hard to describe. It isn't a feeling I can recreate or force myself to feel, it's just something wired deep into my genetic make up. It manifests itself when I am actively pouring my time, love, and attention into others.
When was the last time you were truly present with someone?
I am talking about complete and utter focus on a single individual.
No smart phone, no TV blaring in the background, no music ringing in your ears, and no To-Do List beckoning in your head...
There was one human soul and another, simply connecting.
It is amazing what one can feel and experience if they take the time to disconnect from the WHAT's in the world and be present with the WHO's. It sounds silly, but I am finding that the more I drop my "what" (i.e. things/possessions) and invest in my "who" (family, friends, clients) I feel more complete.
We will never fully comprehend how important we are to the individual lives that we encounter. Each encounter leaves an impression, like a firm footstep into a sandy beach. After the foot is lifted and the encounter has ended, the waves of life may wash it away. To seemingly be forgotten. But the encounter is remembered. The sand harbors the experience of that footprint's impact. The footprint travels far and wide touching much sand and making several impressions. Each unique in its' own right. The entire beach feels the impact of each step. Even if it is not directly contacted by the foot, it feels the presence. Much like this footprint on the beach, we leave a mark with those we encounter. But more importantly, we leave a mark with those we have never even dreamed of encountering.
I started personal training a woman today and it was her first time working out in YEARS. For one hour, I was blessed to completely and fully invest into her becoming a better version of herself. This woman has such a drive and dedication to get well. It is absolutely inspiring.
Head spinning, sweat pouring, body aching, she fights for repetition after repetition because she wants more for herself. She loves herself enough to take back her health and transform her life.
Needless to say, at the end of the session I sat down with her and told her how awesome she was.
She almost broke down into tears. That broke my heart. It had been so long since someone had told her how much she mattered, since someone had invested in her, or loved on her, that she did not know how to respond to my statements.
Life is hard enough as it is. We are meant to build one another up. NOT BREAK ONE ANOTHER DOWN. We need more interactions like this to happen in life, but they cannot happen if we are stuck with our eyes staring at an LED screen.
PUT DOWN THE WHAT
GO LOVE THE WHO
With every client I have there is an aspect of Love. Not trying to be creepy it is just honest. I love them enough, to support them, guide them, serve them and help them reach their goals. If you would like to find out more about my coaching style and the services I offer around training and nutrition head to my website.
It is time to become SECOND. Stop caring about my WHAT and start caring about my WHO.
It comes down to the condition of one's heart.
Who did you LOVE today?
